Rhôd Running is running / mapping project in rural Carmarthenshire, collaborating with artists’ group Rhôd led by Roger Lougher. The project explores the network of footpaths and bridleways around Drefach Felindre, which connect Melin Glonc with surrounding villages. Many of these routes are used rarely and I often found myself lost or unsure of my whereabouts, an experience unknown in the town or city. I used O.S. maps and GPS to record my routes as well as making a video record of some of them. I experimented with head mounted cameras facing both forward and backwards to try and capture the experiences of both going forwards and leaving something behind.
Rhôd Running is part of a wider interest I have in running as a way of investigating a place on foot. Running is a an efficient way to explore and access different terrains not available to motorists and cyclists.
